Evidence-Based Clinical Psychology. Helping people cultivate a life that feels worth living.
I’m Dr Emily Musgrove, a clinical psychologist, author and speaker. Through evidence-based therapy, I help people understand the patterns keeping them stuck and make lasting change, with compassion, clarity and purpose. Based in Perth and available online.
You’re not broken, you’re stuck. There’s a difference, and it matters.Â
Broken implies the problem is with you. It implies there is something inherently wrong with you. But what if your struggle isn’t a flaw, but the cost of being a human, a human who yearns to feel things deeply, who wants their life to mean something but just doesn’t know how to get there? This is being stuck.
The anxiety, the exhaustion, the sadness and the grief, these aren’t the symptoms of a faulty person. They’re what it looks like to care, to want more from your life, and to be hurting because the distance between the two has grown too wide. You don’t feel this way because something is wrong with you. You feel it because something matters to you.
Somewhere beneath the struggle, there is a version of you that knows what it feels like to be genuinely alive. Curious. Present. Moving toward something that matters. That version of you has not gone anywhere. It has just been buried beneath too much pressure, too many demands and not enough support.
Broken is permanent. Stuck isn’t, and this is where it changes.

Real Expertise. Real Care. Real Change.
I have spent over 15 years as a fully registered clinical psychologist, sitting alongside people in their most honest and difficult moments, and witnessing again and again what becomes possible when people feel truly seen, cared for and supported.
In that time I have worked with individuals navigating a broad range of mental health concerns - anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions and the persistent, often unnamed experience of feeling stuck, lost and disconnected from what once gave life meaning.
My clinical training spans Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness and Compassion-based therapies, including Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy.
Over time, ACT, mindfulness and self-compassion have become the foundation of my practice. Not just because they are grounded in decades of research, but because I have seen, in real life, what shifts when someone begins to move toward their values rather than away from their fear.
I hold a Combined PhD and Masters in Clinical Psychology, and am recognised as a fully registered, clinical psychologist with AHPRA, and the Australian Board of Psychology. I am also an AHPRA Board Approved Supervisor, the author of Unstuck, resident psychologist on the popular podcast The Imperfects, founder of The ELM Collective, and a speaker passionate about making evidence-based psychology accessible, warm and genuinely useful.

About Emily
Â
I’ve been asking big questions since I was small. What makes a life feel meaningful? Why do some people seem at home in themselves, while others move through the world quietly lost? What causes suffering — and what actually helps alleviate it? I always knew I wanted to be part of the answer.
Outside of being a psychologist, I am a very normal and imperfect human being. I am a wife and mother of two young kids. My little family are the loves of my life. I am happiest when I’m with them, in the ocean, on a tennis court, on a bike ride, or deep into a board game. I believe in long dinners, good friends and finding the beauty of the ordinariness of everyday life.
I know what it feels like to be stuck, to carry that quiet ache that something needs to change but not know where to begin. That is exactly why I do what I do.
And if you found your way here, I am really, truly glad.
